Who We Are


READ International is an award-winning student-volunteer-driven educational development organisation, which began its life in 2003/4 as a small project based at Nottingham University founded by a group of socially entrepreneurial students led by Rob Willison following a ‘gap year’ teaching in Tanzania. What We Do


Library Refurbishment Programme

We transform unused, rundown spaces into well organized, engagin libraries.


Tanzania Volunteering Programme

All of our libraries are refurbrished by Tanzanian university students. We support them to get access to jobs through internship programs.


Teacher Training Programme

We train teachers on reading promotion, improving literacy, using of textbooks in class, library management and application of the advanced teaching methodologies (pedagogical skills). We have empowered 722 teachers in 3 years time (2015-2017).
