To enhance the effectiveness of the libraries constructed by READ TANZANIA, the Reading Competition is one of the Literacy Reading Programs. We organize Reading Competitions involving schools with libraries built by the organization.
This year’s competition, the third of its kind, took place at Twiga Secondary School in Tegeta Wazo Hill, Dar es Salaam, involving two schools: Twiga and Kiluvya Secondary Schools. The competition was exciting and included activities such as a Debate with the motion stating, “SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY have BROUGHT MORE HARM THAN GOOD TO THIRD WORLD COUNTRIES”, Fluent reading assessments to measure reading speed, pronunciation, and confidence, Short dramas emphasizing the importance of library usage for personal and academic development, and Entertainment segments where talented students sang motivational songs for library usage, showcasing the schools’ literary abilities.
Twiga Secondary emerged as the winner, taking home the trophy, and exceptional students from both schools received prizes like novel books and pens. Both parties were happy and satisfied with the results and expressed interest in having another competition
