LIBRARY MANAGEMENT, LITERACY AND SUSTAINABILITY WORKSHOP FOR PUBLIC SECONDARY SCHOOLS

We conducted a Workshop on Library Management, Literacy, and Sustainability for public secondary school teachers, bringing together 35 teachers from 12 schools, 10 from Dar es Salaam, 1 from Mtwara, and 1 from Zanzibar. The workshop took place at Turiani Secondary School, which provided a supportive and engaging setting for this important learning experience.

The sessions were facilitated by Dr Collin Kimaryo, Head of Reader Services at the University of Dar es Salaam Directorate of Library Services, and focused on best practices in school library management, tracking outcomes and literacy impact, as well as resource mobilization and sustainability.

There was also a group discussion session where teachers developed and presented action plans to enhance their school libraries. Throughout the workshop, teachers shared experiences and worked collaboratively to explore strategies that strengthen library management and promote literacy across their schools.

This workshop was made possible through the generous support of the Karimjee Foundation, and we sincerely thank them for their continuous support of this course.
