STRENGTHENING READING CULTURE THROUGH LIBRARY RENOVATION AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
The Kick-off Meeting for the new project, Library Renovation at Dar Es Salaam Girls’ Secondary School, is a significant step towards enhancing educational resources for the school, which has 791 students and 45 teachers.

Realizing the present state of their current library, with limited resources and inadequate facilities, the establishment of a well-equipped library is deemed essential for students’ academic success and personal development. To ensure the success of this endeavor, stakeholders involvement is crucial.

Hence, it was crucial to engage key stakeholders within the Ndugumbi ward, before starting the renovation. The meeting was held at the school compound and attended by 18 stakeholders, including the Representative of the Kwembe Ward, School Board representatives, Head Mistress, library teacher, academic teacher, other teachers and students. They were briefed on the project’s objectives and plans, aiming to sensitize them and instill a sense of ownership of the project.

The collaborative effort promises to transform the library into a vibrant hub of knowledge and learning, enriching the educational journey of Dar Es Salaam Girls’ Secondary School’s students.
