LIBRARY LAUNCHING AT UBUNGO NHC SECONDARY SCHOOL
A wave of excitement and celebration filled Ubungo NHC Secondary School as READ TANZANIA, in partnership with Karimjee Foundation, officially launched a newly refurbished library aimed at transforming the school’s learning environment and promoting a strong reading culture.

The launch ceremony brought together 12 key education stakeholders, including the Guest of Honour Ms. Wema Mwakibinga, Statistic and Logistics Education Officer from Ubungo Municipal. Also in attendance were Ms. Caren Rowland from Karimjee Foundation, the local government chairman, school board representatives, parents, the Head Teacher of Urafiki Secondary School, as well as teachers and students of the host school.

The library refurbishment cost a total of 31,645,000 tshs included building repairs such as electrical installations, ceiling fans, door polishing, wall repainting, and creative wall illustrations to encourage reading. The space has also been furnished with 68 chairs, 20 tables, 8 shelves, and stocked with 415 textbooks and supplementary books to support both academic and leisure reading.

Ubungo NHC Secondary School currently serves 502 students (276 girls and 226 boys) and 22 teachers (14 women and 8 men). The library is expected to benefit not only the current school community but also the future generations.
